If the measure of a good photographer is having a decent point-and-shoot camera and an iPhoto album stuffed with candid snapshots that are only occasionally blurry, then I consider myself a regular Annie Liebowitz. Of course our photo editor, Zach, is usually quick to remind me that I'm not. But maybe you really are a great photographer. There's only one way to find out...
Send us your best Caribbean photos for the CT+L Photo Contest 2009, and you just might win the Grand Prize: a 6-night/7-day stay at the Verandah Resort & Spa on Antigua. We're also giving away round-trip tickets on Air Jamaica like it's Christmas, so you don't want to sit this contest out.

This year's categories include:

- Anything Goes (keep it clean and Caribbean-themed, people)
Just tear out the official entry card from the April issue, or right-click on the picture to download the PDF here...
Then cruise over to the 2008 contest page to see last year's winners.
PS: the deadline for entry is August 4, 2009 - so schedule that next vacation...I mean, um, photo shoot...right away.

FYI, the file that you download by righ-clicking is a .jpg. When you try to zoom in to read the rules, the small size of the file makes this impossible as the words are all blurry. COULD YOU FIX THIS PLEASE!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the inconvenience - this has been fixed so hopefully it will work for you now!
ReplyDeletereagan
Actually, it's not quite fixed. When you right-click, you must choose "open link in new window" to get the PDF file. "Save picture as" gets you the JPG.
ReplyDeleteWHEN SUBMITTING PAPER COPY OF THE PHOTOS ON DVD, CAN THESE PAPER COPIES BE THUMBNAIL IN SIZE?
ReplyDeleteSubmit ONLY unpublished, unframed prints (no larger than 8” x 10”), 35mm slide duplicates, CDs or DVDs. Multiple photos may be submitted on a single disk. A paper print of each photo must accompany digital entries.
It would be much more convenient (and modern!) if the entries could be submitted electronically. I've declined to participate (despite great interest) for the past 2 years because the mail-in process is too cumbersome.
ReplyDeleteThere is one photo that I just love, but am not sure which category would be best for it; people or anything goes. Should I duplicate the photo and send in two entry forms and fees, or can I just ask for consideration in both categories?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous...sorry for the delay. You should be able to just click on the image to launch the PDF download - it works on our end so please let me know if you have further issues.
ReplyDeleteAs far as paper copies of your images, we prefer larger than thumbnail so we can fully evaluate the image, but will accept thumbnail if accompanied by a DVD with a higher resolution copy of the same image.
We do intend to accept entries electronically in the future, but we're unfortunately unable to do so this year as we're redesigning our web site and all online resources have been devoted to that.
And finally, if you like you may enter your photo into both categories with only one submission...no need to submit duplicates of the same photo. Please just indicate both categories on your submission. I hope this helps.

Could you provide a brief description of the requirements for digital submissions, i.e. required resolution and size? Also, what is considered digitally manipulated -- cropping, resizing, etc.? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLooking for the official rules of this contest and cannot find them. Is this contest open to residents of Canada? Please confirm. Thanks
ReplyDeleteDeadline question:
ReplyDeletePostmark by August 4th? Or received by August 4th?

Same question, Postmarked by August 4th or received by August 4th? Thanks, Barbara
ReplyDeleteSame Question, POSTMARK or receive by 8-4-09? I had assumed you could enter electronically and now see the alternate means required. Might have to forego til next year when CM catches up with the future of technology ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for nothing. No answer to a question posted 10 days ago.
